A few days ago I drank from one of those red vials. I'm now discharging electricity from my hands.
I can't control it properly and I don't want to hurt anyone. I know that you generate fire and that's not exactly the same. Still, it's similar enough that maybe you could advise me.
Naturally I'll compensate you fairly for your time! We can talk contract, if you're willing.
I'm flattered that I was your first choice. In fact, I happen to have some facility with electricity as well, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Price can be negotiated, my motivations aren't monetary. Suffice it to say that I find it more valuable to have an ally who is proficient with her newfound abilities than I do anything else anybody has to offer in this place.
Hello. My name is Raina Wraithblade. I was directed to you via Lieutenant Tayrey with regards to joining the defense force. What qualifications must be met to do so?
[On the 24th Azula will find a small bag of chocolates with her name on it, along with a holiday card that reads,]
Merry Christmas! - Arrakis Faylare
[The chocolates are shaped like a flame. They are dark chocolate and spicy! Although he was careful to make sure they weren't too spicy so that she could still enjoy them.]
[Delivered quite kindly by the mail mice to Azula's home is a bag of homemade potpourri and a little handmade Christmas Pixie. Last but not least, there are some Christmas cookies (some are a little misshapen but it's clear they were made with care).
Attached is a card inside is delicate handwriting:]
MERRY CHRISTMAS YOUR HIGHNESS! I made the cookies myself with some help! I'm sure you're used to much finer things but I hope you like them anyway. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Again, Merry Christmas!
[Azula's gift is left by her door, waiting for her when she comes back from a run. It certainly wasn't there when she left. A folded cloak made from wolf fur, and a small curved knife with a sheath. There's a note as well.]
Know you got the fire powers to keep yourself warm but why expend the energy if you don't got to? This'll do the trick and let you conserve your energy for when you need it more. Dagger's for the same purpose. Figured you could do with something light and easy to hide for emergencies. Ah...anyway, havin' a bit of a to do end of the month. Nothin' fancy, but I'm gonna cook up some stew and have some people over. Be nice if you could stop by for a bit. See ya round, kid.
[On Christmas morning, Azula will find at her doorstep a bag of various teas including a strong Assam, spiced Chai, and Jasmine. Paired with some white tea- and ylang ylang-scented candles from Ari's business is a card inside a wax-sealed envelope, with Azula's name scribed in elegant cursive on the front in both Roman and Persian (أزولا) alphabet. The card's message reads:]
Azula,
I'll soon be arranging a new congregation place for the council; it's an arduous process, so I request we put our regular meetings on hold for a few weeks. In the meantime, I hope these will make your own building arrangements for the defense group easier. There's enough tea for you to share with a friend, if you're so inclined.
Hm. Immediate negative reaction. Apparently accepting was the wrong answer.
Or at least not the one he expected.
What was he? She's no closer to an answer. And she's rapidly beginning to doubt she'll get one handed to her by accident. She doesn't know who or what this Jasmine is, but she assumes she's supposed to. She knows that she knows him. His face has been the most familiar thing in this place, despite her complete lack of an explanation, and it's like a needle under her skin that she can't figure out why.
She'd have to be honest, then, and trust that he wouldn't harm her. The very idea rubs her the wrong way, feels foolish, dangerous, but if she doesn't figure this out she'll go insane.
"... Vaeros."
It was one of the few names she'd remembered and had a response to.
"He... did something to me. Made me forget everything. Or so Bakugou told me. I didn't even remember my name until he reminded me."
She hisses a breath of frustration, ignores the feeling that she's making a mistake, and just blurts it out.
Your highness... I... I wanted to apologize... for... for attacking you. I... I would understand if you were angry... if you did not wish to speak to me anymore.
[She takes a while to respond- but when she does, she doesn't seem particularly upset or accusatory. She mostly seems like she's regarding Alice with an appraising eye.
[This would be delivered via mail-mouse, and the envelope is sealed with a small green bit of wax with a bind-rune of Loki's name carved into it.]
To Princess Azula of the Fire Nation,
I hope this missive finds you well, your highness. We have sparred verbally before in the council room, but I hope that you might be willing to talk with me. You have been here since the beginning, and Thor also speaks highly of you. I've also seen examples of your intelligence.
Since my own arrival, I've been keeping fairly detailed notes on everything that I've been able to regarding here and our situation. I would like to compare notes, as it were, and see what you might be willing to add given your experience. Things are only escalating, and I would rather plan and be prepared to adapt to whatever comes our way.
Please respond if you are willing to meet somewhere relatively public but private, such as in the forest or at the ruins by the cliff.

Reply, the same day, by the same obviously-quite-frightened mail mouse.
Unfortunately, I am no longer in the business of trying to motivate the weak-spirited, weak-hearted fools in this village to act in the interest of mutual allegiance. Their sentimentality blinds them to reason, and their unrestrained and unhinged empathy makes them treat enemies as friends and allies who point to danger as threats.
I spent nearly a year and a half aiding a voluntary militia force in the defense of the village, over half of that as leader and coordinator of that force. During that time, I compiled many notes on the threats we faced and the tactical observations I've made regarding them. You are welcome to them, assuming nobody has claimed them already. I left them in Princess Jasmine's council building in case anybody was inclined to succeed me in the role.
Our delightful little community is filled with extraordinary people, isn't it?
[Extraordinarily stupid and irritating, in particular.]
Decided they're not worth the effort after all? I can hardly blame you, I think sheer resilience in the face of adversity kept me in the role for as long as I was.
[Azula doesn't actually look away from her book this time, she just reaches down and yanks Webby fully to her feet to save some time. You're welcome, friend.]
Perhaps you need better standards for harm done than 'not dead,' too.
[She stares dubiously at what we will generously call a 'sundae,' then at what we will even more generously call an 'iou.']
You don't do this a lot, do you?
[And then she shrugs and takes a spoonful of ice cream.
It is cold, she doesn't care for that- the idea of eating something cold was always weird to her. But it's... weird. Really sweet. Not bad, though. She likes the chocolate, she decides. Though she takes one bite of the sweetened, syrupy cherry, wrinkles her nose, and sets it aside.]
... wait. That's a good point. She clearly still wants to argue, wants to escalate the temper tantrum, but... why would he lie? But it must be a lie, it has to.]
Fine.
[It's not fine, she's audibly struggling to stay calm.]
"This isn't the Fire Nation, and is a completely different world. And time is different as well."
It was true that she hadn't regained her airbending yet, but there was still the knowledge that she had, and of course her tattoos as well. Plus she knew all about history.
"It's true, my grandfather was the last airbender. And for a long time my family were the only airbenders left, but after harmonic convergence there are a bunch more of us."
